The Story So Far
Thank you for your interest in Ocean Kave, North Devon’s magical award-winning, purpose-built wedding venue. The inspiration for Ocean Kave began one balmy summer’s evening, within the grounds of our family home at Duckhaven Stud. The sunset, tranquillity and natural setting were so overwhelming that we decided we should share the magic with others. And so, one year later, Ocean Kave was born.
A Kave by the ocean
We hosted our first wedding at Ocean Kave in June 2013, it was a truly magical day. Since then, the venue has evolved and is now one of the leading weddings in the South West of England We have won the coveted Best Countryside Wedding Venue in The South West in the Wedding Industry Awards twice and have adapted our offering each year and are now in a great position to offer exclusive small intimate & elopement weddings to couples. We have some exciting plans and will be opening a new venue in 2025.
Devon Holiday Cottages

Duckhaven Stud
Our magical venue is now home to many other beautiful residents including rabbits, foxes, racehorses, and roe deer, if you’re lucky enough you may even catch a glimpse of a porpoise or two on your wedding day, these are the only uninvited guests you will ever expect to see on your big day. Within the grounds you will see many retired thoroughbred racehorses, they wake up to the glorious views every day and are enjoying seeing out their retirement. Our grounds lead to a private coastal track from the Kave which is a stunning back drop for your wedding album. Most couples will take advantage of the stunning sandy beach at Westward Ho! Although we do not advise walking on to the beach in your wedding attire most photographers will take couples down to the beach for some private shots after the ceremony and have you have back ready for canapés on the lawn.
Sharing the love
Over the years we have been very active supporting our local community and Devon based charities, we have been able to support some fantastic causes and have helped to raise significant donations to these much loved charities including the Bideford Boxing Club, North Devon Animal Ambulance, The Sea Cadets, Children’s Holiday Foundation, Families in Grief, The Round Table, Honey’s Bravery Bags and many more.
