Making and sticking to a budget right from the start of your wedding planning journey is so important for couples. There are many ways to keep the budget in line including selecting a weekday over a Saturday or Bank holiday date,  trimming the guest list, and considering a ceremony only wedding option.  A ceremony only wedding is a great way for couples to have all the trimmings of a wonderful Ocean Kave indoor or outside wedding ceremony  before moving on to another cost-effective wedding venue, marquee or local village hall or community centre for your wedding breakfast and reception.  

Unlike a hotel wedding we do not have any strict set timings to work to which means that couples have flexibility to create a wedding to suit their taste and budget.  

For couples who wish to have a slightly less extravagant wedding day or are on a stricter budget our Ocean Kave twilight weddings are a great option.  A twilight wedding is a wedding which starts after. 5:30pm so couples can cut out the wedding breakfast and other elements you overall price of the package is not as expensive.  

In a nutshell couples will you get married later in the day in our private outdoor space with stunning ocean views and go straight into an evening party in the Rustic Barn. The timing of these is such that sit down meals, formal speeches, table layouts etc are not required and thus removes any headache these could potentially bring to the wedding couple. As the sun sets at different times throughout the year, we will have to create an order of the day to suit your guest list and budget, it is certainly an option to consider, and the wedding photos can be incredible.

We have some of the most sensational sunsets in the Southwest of England, our 60 acres of private grounds are located with an officially recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Sunset times In March & October are around 6pm gradually moving throughout the months to a later time of 9:30 in June.  May and late September are very popular months for twilight weddings at Ocean Kave. The photographers on our suppliers list are all experienced in sunset photography and know the venue well to ensure you get the best shots.  By not catering for all your guests or having once of our ceremony only wedding packages starting later in the evening, this is a great way to create a more budget friendly wedding in Devon. Another way to keep an eye on the pennies is to get creative and consider making your invites, wedding decorations, favours, and table plans.  We often see couples who have taken time to scribe their guests’ names onto pebbles, shells, or rustic wooden coasters, not only to the match the Ocean Kave theme, but home-made wedding favours are also a very personal memento for your guests to take home.  Maybe your bridesmaids are talented at hair and make-up, or you have a family member who would love to make your wedding cake or flowers.

We are a fully licenced wedding venue at Ocean Kave which means you can get legally get married almost anywhere within the grounds.  However, there is a cost associated to booking a Devon Registrar or local celebrant to come out to officiate you’re wedding usually in the region of £450-£600.  It is worth considering doing the legal part in your local registry office before or after the wedding celebrations, if you think of it as just the contract your actual celebrations in front of your friends and family will mark the event.  This is an innovative way to have all the elegance and WOW factor of an Ocean Kave coastal wedding without giving your guests any idea that you started your online search looking for a “cheap wedding venue in Devon”.
